What is a refresher dive?

A refresher dive is required by law for recreational scuba diving in Israel. The purpose of the dive is to refresh your diving skills after a period of inactivity.

What does the refresher dive cover?

The refresher dive lasts for about two hours and covers the following topics:

• Theory: buoyancy, underwater movement, environmental protection, diving physiology, effects of pressure ascent, effects of pressure descent, nitrogen narcosis, decompression, and emergency procedures
• Water exercises: practicing buoyancy and underwater movement, regulator removal and replacement, weight removal and addition, weight adjustment, use of an octopus, emergency ascent

What is not included in the refresher dive?

The refresher dive is not a guided tour of a dive site. It focuses solely on important diving skills, so it is not possible to combine it with a tour.

Schedule

Refresher dives are offered every day at 8:00, 10:00, 12:00, and 2:00 PM.

Who can participate?

This refresher dive is for those who have not dived for up to 3 years.

What if I have not dived for more than 3 years?

If you have not dived for more than 3 years but less than 5 years, you will need to do a similar refresher dive but with a private instructor for 480 NIS. If you have not dived for more than 5 years, you will need to do a private refresher day that includes 2 dives and extended theory for 990 NIS and will last approximately 6 hours.
