The SDI Dry Suit Diver course will open up a whole new world of diving for you. Many of the diving environments around the world are better experienced in a dry suit. Why? These areas have an abundance of marine life waiting to be seen and photographed - they just happen to be a little cooler! Dry suits are also used in tropical waters during the cooler months. This course allows the student to develop the knowledge and skills to properly use a dry suit. He will discuss the types of dry suits, accessories, maintenance and how to perform basic repairs
Who is this course for:
The certified diver is looking for further training in dry suit equipment, selection and diving techniques. This diver can extend their dive season, spend more time diving in cooler environments and/or enjoy enhancing their diving experience by keeping warm and cozy in a dry suit.
Prerequisites for the course:
SDI Open Water Scuba Diver, SDI Junior Open Water Scuba Diver, or equivalent
Minimum age 18, 12 with parental consent

Dry Suit Emergencies
The required skills you will need to demonstrate include all of the following and more:
Dive planning, proper wearing of a dry suit, review the functions of the dry suit, buoyancy test and proper weighting Practice dry suit skills to inflate and deflate the dry suit by rolling from an upside down position Buoyancy skills such as hovering in a fixed position Emergency procedures for a dry suit malfunction Safety stop boarding and exiting Diving log what Is there anything in it for you?
Upon successful completion of this course, graduates may engage in dry suit diving activities without the direct supervision of an SDI instructor* as long as the following limitations are observed:
The diving activities approach those of training
The areas of activity are approximately the same as those of training
The environmental conditions are close to those of training
The SDI Dry Suit Diver certification is considered a single specialty rating for completing the SDI Advanced Diver Development program or the SDI Master Scuba Diver Development program.
SDI Dry Suit Diver Minimum Requirements:
Satisfactorily complete the SDI Drysuit Diver Knowledge tasks with a passing grade of 80%, followed by 100% instructor correction
Complete all open water requirements efficiently
Demonstrate mature and correct judgment regarding the planning and execution of a dive
