Deep Diving Course: Pushing Limits Down to 40 Meters
For divers wishing to explore deeper sites and discover shipwrecks or remote reefs, the Deep Diving course represents the next professional step. This course trains divers to safely plan and execute dives to a maximum depth of 40 meters, significantly expanding their diving opportunities both locally and internationally. It is considered a key specialty within the prestigious Master Scuba Diver track.
Course Structure and Diver Training
The course spans two intensive days and includes five dives, during which divers gain experience descending to a depth of 40 meters. Training focuses not only on diving technique itself but also on the use of advanced auxiliary equipment, such as pony bottles, surface marker buoys (SMBs), and reels. We place special emphasis on enhancing personal diving skills and managing underwater emergency procedures.
Training for this depth requires extensive expertise; therefore, all our instructors possess significant deep-diving capabilities and a wealth of experience guiding students in this environment. The course runs weekly, offering a combination of in-depth theoretical study and challenging practical training. Prerequisites and Theoretical Curriculum
To join the deep diving course, the trainee must hold a Two-Star Diver (Advanced Open Water) certification and present a logbook showing at least 40 post-certification dives (for a total of at least 52 dives). The minimum age is 18, or 16 with signed parental consent.
During the theory sessions, we will cover the history of dive tables versus modern dive computers, calculate no-decompression limits, and learn to perform safety stops. We will familiarize ourselves with specialized deep-diving equipment, including adapted regulators, alternate air sources, and lift bags. A significant portion of the course is dedicated to deep-diving physiology: understanding high pressures, increased air consumption, nitrogen narcosis, oxygen toxicity, and the prevention of decompression sickness.
Practical In-Water Dive Program
The first dive is dedicated to equipment checks and site orientation, involving a descent to a maximum depth of 30 meters and exercises to test functionality under high nitrogen pressure. Subsequent dives will increase in complexity; we will strictly monitor time and air, calculate actual air consumption, and deploy a surface marker buoy (SMB) using a reel, all while practicing underwater emergency procedures.
The third dive is the culminating deep dive to 40 meters, where the diver applies all... ...deep diving procedures and pre-dive planning. Dives from the fourth one onwards focus on reinforcing skills at varying depths, emphasizing controlled ascents and precise safety stops. At every stage, the instructor accompanies the diver and provides immediate feedback to improve performance.
Safety and First Aid in Deep Diving
An integral part of the training covers emergency procedures specific to deep diving, including techniques for using safety tanks and locating nearby hyperbaric chambers. We review first aid and CPR principles, oxygen administration for suspected injuries, and the management of shock. The goal is to mold you into divers who not only enjoy the depths but also know how to respond professionally to any scenario.
Frequently Asked Questions About the Deep Diving Course
Question: Why is it important to take a specialized course to dive to 40 meters? Answer: At such depths, the pressure exceeds 3 atmospheres, affecting air consumption, body physiology, and no-decompression limits. The course provides the theoretical and practical tools to safely manage these changes.
Question: What happens if I experience nitrogen narcosis during the course? Answer: Nitrogen narcosis is a well-known phenomenon. During the course, we learn to recognize the early signs and perform a controlled ascent to a shallower depth to alleviate the symptoms. The instructor... ...will be with you to ensure a proper and calm response.
Question: Does the certification allow me to dive to a depth of 40 meters anywhere in the world? Answer: Yes, the Deep Diver certification is an internationally recognized qualification accepted by all leading diving organizations, allowing you to participate in guided or independent deep dives at any dive site worldwide.
